Today's review is another lovely Etsy find, this time from wire jewellery designer and general craftoholic Deirdre Dixon, who lives in sunny LA. She created this book with fun in mind, full of fairly simple mandalas for colourists of all ages. There's 50 different ones for you to make your own, none of them too intricate or complex, so if you prefer your mandalas to be more basic than overwhelming this is a great book to start from. Each page is numbered, making it easy to find the piece you're working on at the time. The mandalas vary in theme, from geometric patterns to flowers, berries and butterflies.
All the images are printed one-sided on decent quality paper, which doesn't allow bleeding of water-based markers. The line work is predominantly a medium thickness, which I like as you don't have to be overly careful when colouring up to the edge. Each mandala is centred on the page, so there's no colouring off the edge or into the spine. All of this is bound in a lovely soft-feel cover, and is a handy size for taking out with you. I'd recommend this book to anyone who's looking for an easy mandala book that still contains enough detail to create beautiful finished pieces.
Here's my finished mandala, in honour of the Supreme Court bill for Gay rights :)
I was given this book in exchange for an honest review. You can find it on Amazon here:
