The illustrations are all done by hand in pen and ink, and feature animals, wildlife, geometric patterns and quirky flowing lines. Inside the pages you'l find lots of butterflies, bunnies, insects and reptiles, all surrounded by a highly dense and lush forest with strangely shaped trees reminiscent of Dr. Seuss, Beetlejuice and The Nightmare before Christmas (in my opinion). There's quite an odd feeling to these illustrations, and not in a bad way- I imagine everything in the woods is alive and able to move around... The book is spiral bound with a hidden coil, making it lie flat for comfortable colouring and easy to remove. The illustrations are one sided and printed on very thick cardlike paper, perfect for using wet media as well as a great tooth for coloured pencils. The book is a bigger format than A4 at 30 x 22cm, so even though many of the illustrations are very detailed, they are scaled larger than usual so it's not too difficult to get in the spaces. The card cover is also completely colourable inside front & back, with a buzzy bee tesselated wallpaper pattern.
Gaye is taking a break at the moment and has temporarily closed her Etsy shop. Click here to receive an email update when she's back up and running to order your copy of the book! Here's my work in progress!
