Tarot Designs by Adrienne Trafford

I love anything to do with the supernatural, metaphysical and occult, so I was excited to find a colouring book based on the cards of Tarot. I'm a practicing reader myself (to friends & family) and I've always thought the images on the cards were so interesting and vivid.

Pennsylvanian artist Adrienne has illustrated this book with her iterations of the Tarot deck, and I absolutely love her interpretation. She has also created her own deck, The Journey Oracle, which I will be purchasing soon as I love life-path cards.

There are 30 mystical drawings included in Tarot Designs, featuring all of the Major Arcana and a selection of court cards. I would have loved it to have contained the full deck.

Each page has its card name at the bottom in a fitting Celtic font, and the drawings are all boxed in a border.
The pages are double-sided, which is a bit of a let down as I would've loved to use my alcohol pens to blend and really make these images stand out. I decided instead to use my glitter gels instead (took a good while!) to give a magical feel to the drawings. Unfortunately, those bled through anyway! So I would recommend pencils only for this book. It doesn't feel like particularly thin paper but with any double sided book you have to be really careful what medium you are using. The pages have quite a porous feel so I imagine markers would be absorbed very easily.

Another good thing about the illustrations are that they are mainly made up of larger spaces, so if you find tiny detail annoying this book should be fine for you. There are a few images that are more detailed, so overall you're getting a good range of intricacy vs. blank space. The book is only around £3 on eBay, so you're getting a steal!

Here's my finished picture. It's so hard to capture glitter on a photo! I chose 'Wheel of Fortune' as to me it represents life; everything goes in a cycle, you have your ups and downs but it's never going to be the same forever. This is a comforting thought when I'm at my low points, and keeps me optimistic for the future.
