This book is actually a combination of three separate books the illustrator created; volumes 1, 2 & 3.
The artwork is unique in style and theme, featuring animals which are half creature/half musical instrument! The title says it all: the Symphony of Nature. There is plenty of melodic plant life and objects too, everything taking on a double role including music notes for branches, a camel with bongo drums for humps, swans shaped like lutes, trumpet-bodied flamingos, vinyl record plants, whistle-shaped birds, microphone butterflies and much more.
The book has 150 pages so hundreds of colouring hours for just over a fiver, fantastic value for money. It is CreateSpace published so the paper is basic but does not allow bleed from waterbased pens. In fact, I used Inktense pencils & water on my picture and there was no impression on the reverse, never mind the next page, so you're safe to use paints if you wish.
The linework is mostly very fine but the drawings aren't ridiculously intricate. It strikes a perfect balance between the complexity an adult colouring book should have and cute, whimsical subject matter.
Here is my finished picture, as I mentioned coloured with Inktense pencils and a waterbrush.
I was given this book in exchange for an honest review. You can find it on Amazon here:
