I am so excited to show you this beautiful book from Sweden today! Yep, another one from Scandanavia and it is absolutely lovely- there seems to be an abundance of talent filtering over from these Swedish illustrators lately!

Sagolikt (Fabulous) is an adorable book of imaginative illustrations featuring adorable stuffed animals and toys that have magically come to life between the pages. This book is heavily influenced by whimsical, storybook art and is another one of those coveted books that combines children's themed drawings with adult complexity- my favourite!

There are some Alice in Wonderland references in the book but it is not solely themed on that, it's more a enchanting, fairytale-style book in general. The illustrations have a very Nordic feel and are reminiscent of other books by foreign artists, such as Hidden Nature, Dagdrommar and Flow.

Have a look through this charming book in the slideshow here:
The book has a fold-out, colourable card cover both front and back, similar to Millie Marotta's books. The paper is an off-white colour, not quite ivory but not stark white either, and is a decent thickness which doesn't allow bleed from water-based pens. The cover has beautiful gold foiling to the title and different accents of the illustration, and is coloured in a lovely mint green and pastel pink.

The linework is a consistent thickness throughout and has quite large colourign spaces- there are just lots of them! I love how it enables us adults to colour playful, childlike artwork and still have enough intricacy to hold our attention.

Again, I am faced with yet another favourite (I seem to find a new one every week) but this truly is an unmissable book that most colourists will absolutely love. At the moment it is only available directly from Sweden at Penstore.com, but you can enter my giveaway below and try to win yourself a copy!

Here is my finished picture, coloured with Marco Raffine pencils.

The international shipping is the deal breaker ... I'm hoping for a US release and/or this great book to be on BookDepository.com
