Here's a book that's main purpose is to be a calming salve to it's colourist, intended purely to relax and promote mindfulness in its owner. Cara Stein is an author of relationship advice books and a blog called 17000 days, which is centred around how to be happy in life and make the most of every day. After going through a year of depression, she used the creation of this book to aid her mental health journey back to flourishing.
There is a list on Cara's website of things she doesn't like to admit but did so to show people that no one is perfect. On her list she stated that she is "horrible at drawing". I think you'll ALL agree that if this book is anything to go by, she is AMAZING at drawing! Please believe in your talents, Cara! I'd love to have half of your ability. Just take a look through the book and see what I mean.
See what I mean? Stunning! I love the delicacy of some of the illustrations, the swirls and waves are so flowing and elegant. The book itself is square in shape with 30 different designs to colour, nearly all of which having extremely small spaces so make sure you've got your pencils sharpened and fineliners at the ready! If you have eyesight issues then I wouldn't recommend. The paper is quite thin (triplus and stabilo WILL bleed through) but it's not a big issue as you'd only be ruining the quote on the back, not an illustration.
I coloured my picture with very sharp Faber Castell art grip pencils, Triplus fineliners and Spectrum Noir (although the latter were WAY too thick for use on this image so I would steer clear of marker pens in Relax and Color).
And now for a giveaway! Who'd like to win a copy of this beautiful book? Well, all you have to do is Like my page on Facebook and comment under the FACEBOOK POST for this review. That's it, you're in! Giveaway ends on Wednesday 29th July.
This book was given to me in exchange for an honest review. You can find it on Amazon here:
