Playing Color Cards

Back in October last year I featured Playing Color cards on my blog when they were in their crowdfunding phase and not yet released. Now I have my hands on a pack and they are fabulous!

This fully colourable playing cards deck was designed by Claire Green, and Australian designer & colouring fan. Claire had quality in mind all the way through production, making sure these cards would be durable enough for repeated handling yet have a perfect surface for all types of colouring media. The cards are 300gsm in thickness with a glossy laminated back to keep them strong through lots of shuffles, and the colouring side is a smooth uncoated card with light tooth perfect for coloured pencils. You can colour them with anything but alcohol markers should be used with caution as they can show through slightly on the reverse side.

The designs have a really pretty look with lots of leaves & mandala-style patterns. There are both detailed cards and simpler ones, so they "suit" any skill level as none of them are too intricate. It's great to have something you can colour and then actually use, and the fact that all your friends will see your hard work when playing is a bonus! It's totally up to you to decide your colour palette, so each deck really is unique. The packs come with their own storage box made from thick card- although the opening flaps aren't as sturdy as they could be so I'm not sure how long it will last.
The price is right too- at the current sale price of just over £5 per deck (usually £8) you can afford to get decks as gifts for family, friends, the kids- you name it! For 52 cards of such high quality and hours of colouring time, it's incredible value for money. International shipping from Australia is around the same price as the deck, but if you buy 6 or more decks you can contact Claire to get a shipping discount.

I had a blast colouring them & can't wait to have a full colour deck (although my boys have already pinched a couple of cards to colour themselves!)

I was given this product in exchange for an honest review. You can find them on the Playing Color website.

Wow! These playing cards are such a great idea and will make wonderful gifts for my kids and my sisters who love to play poker! And I will have so much fun coloring them! Thanks for reviewing them and bringing them to my attention! I'm going to be buying a lot of decks!
