Pilot FriXion Pens

Ahh the holy grail is here for clumsy and imprecise people like me- eraseable marker pens! I'm super excited by these as I am ALWAYS going out the lines with markers, and no matter what people preach about it being okay to jump over the borders sometimes, I hate doing it! I'm an imperfect perfectionist, and these pens are the remedy!

Pilot FriXion pens come in 12 different colours and can be purchased in packs of 12, 6 or individually. They work, as you might have guessed, by friction- a novel idea for colouring pens. Each pen has a hard plastic nub on the lid that is used to 'rub out' the colour, leaving your normal eraser redundant and therefore eliminating rubber debris. The ink doesn't actually rub off the page though, it cleverly turns transparent when friction is applied (and if you leave the page in the freezer for a while the colour will reappear!).

BEFORE: Coloured with Frixion pens, partially erased

AFTER: Erased, leaving minimal colour residue
As you can see, the eraser does a fantastic job of getting rid of 99% of the colour you put down, so for simple tidying up borders it is a wonder!

The twelve colours are all bright but the ink doesn't lay down completely opaque; the colours could be more solid and vibrant but it's to be expected, seeing as they need to be easy to erase quickly. Bolder colours would leave more stain on the paper, so it's give and take. The tip is a broad 1mm, making them ideal for small to medium spaces. I don't think the coverage would be great on larger spaces, so it's worth saving these for the more detailed illustrations where you're more likely to need the erasability.

If you want a larger rubber than the one on the cap for quicker erasing, you can buy these handy plastic ones, each in their own slip case.
And if you've lost the cap and don't have an eraser, most hard plastics will do the job! It's not only for complete eradication that these pens can be used- what about creating awesome effects by erasing patterns into your work?

These are going to be pens I use very regularly when I'm working on a project I want to be just flawless, and I have to admit the function of rubbing them out works so well it's great just to have a play!

Pilot Frixion Colours are available to buy at Cult Pens with FREE UK delivery :) A pack of 12 is £18.99, 6 is £9.99 and individual pens are £1.79.
