Most of us die-hard colourists have a colouring app on our phones and devices, the ultimate way to make colouring portable without the need for bulky books and a multitude of pencils. Colorfy has been on my phone for a few months now, but it's not something I use very often. I find the overly simple 'tap to colour' method gets boring after a while, and there aren't enough free colour palettes to work with. The answer to all those problems and more is finally here! Pigment is the fine artist pencil to Colorfy's wax crayon, in that it is just so much more in-depth and has a plethora of colouring options: different tools, shade control and gradient colouring to name just a few. This is the closest I've seen to real colouring in an app before, with 8 different tools to choose from: coloured pencil, marker, paintbrush, fill, airbrush, circle brush, linear gradient and radial gradient. They are totally smooth without any pixelation and give a super realistic effect, simulating real pen and brush strokes, and you can adjust the opacity and size of stroke using the sliders. Another fantastic feature is that you can select one area of the illlustration to colour and it will separate it so you can't go out of the lines. There are currently 14 different colour palettes to choose from and they are ALL available for free, which is a massive plus. Illustrations are grouped into categories and include 200+ hand drawn works of art for you to colour. Okay, it looks great you say- but how much does it cost? Well, the app itself is free and the brushes and colours are unlocked, as well as a good number of the illustrations. To unlock all the illustrations and the ability to save in HD and remove the Pigment watermark, there are 3 subscription options you can take if you wish: 1. Take up the free 7-day trial then pay £1.49 per week 2. Pay monthly at £3.99 per month 3. Take out the annual subscription for 1 yearly fee of £18.99 All these options are cancellable at any time. I had a quick play around with the app this morning and was able to create some amazing effects! Check out my butterflies. I used all the different brushes and tools, and I particularly love the bottom-right one that I did with markers. Download Pigment on the App Store here. It is not currently available on Android.

I'm sold :) Getting it! I also ordered the ZoomBook you reviewed earlier. They should give you a commission!
