Colouring Book! is an Etsy find from Bristol-based designer Emily J. Taylor, an animation graduate who sold her funny little characters as plush toys before featuring them in her first colouring book.
The quirky creatures are adorable, each having its animal name listed (some real, some mythical). This book would be great for colourists who love retro video games and cartoons, as the drawings are quite kitsch and comic-y. They remind me of Japanese-style animation, so if that's your thing you'll love this book.
There are only 6 pages in the book. I know that seems like quite a small amount, and with a price tag of over £6 I'd be inclined to agree, but rather than describing it as a colouring book I'd say it's more of a Zine. I've spoken to Emily who says she will be adding to it as and when she can, but wanted to get the first iteration out there to see how it's received.
The paper is white and smooth, and each page is one sided. The cover is thin card with a waxed cotton saddle-stitch binding and is all handmade. I'd recommend this book as a cute present for children, as you can then buy them the matching teddies to go with their favourite character!
I had another go with the Chameleon pens to complete my picture.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review. You can purchase your copy here on Emily's Etsy page.
