Hearts, Flowers and Butterflies by Complicated Coloring

This is a beautiful book from the Complicated Coloring series, illustrated by Antony Briggs. As you've probably guessed, it's a book full of, wait for it... hearts, flowers and butterflies!

First of all I absolutely love the cover of this not-quite-A4 -sized book; it's got a soft-touch feel for easy grip, and it's black & sparkly! The hand-drawn illustrations look charmingly basic, but on further inspection you soon find that the book lives up to its series name!

There are a variety of round, square, and heart shaped designs, a few of which are quite simple but for the most part, extremely detailed. Each image has two versions: one white with a black background, the other inverted as a grey outline on white. Here's a YouTube video from Complicated Coloring, showing you a peek inside the book.
Here's a slideshow of images for anyone who can't play the video:

Quite intricate, eh? Many of the images are so detailed I'm wondering if even fine liners would be up to the job! The book has 46 pages, all single sided, and all with black backing to help avoid bleed-through. That said I did notice my Gelly Roll pens came through the page slightly, but it doesn't matter as there's nothing on the other side to ruin. Actually, there IS something on the other side! If you look very carefully, the Complicated Coloring logo is watermarked into the back of EVERY page in the book. A nice touch, it certainly shows an attention to detail.

The paper quality itself is perfect for pencils and water-based pens such as Triplus and Stabilo, neither of which bleed through.

I have to include this pic of the title page as I love a book that has a 'belongs to' bit in the front! This is where I used those Gelly Rolls, and I think it looks sweet! I was definitely relaxed colouring in this book, so its anti-stress title is well deserved. It's not too expensive at £5.99, either. Below is an image I coloured, using Spectrum Noir's.
