Delicate, ornate designs are my favourite, and that's the keyword in this book- just beautiful, simplistic illustration. Susan Coils has produced five volumes of adult colouring books, as well as a travel sized book and one for children too. Her style is dainty and attractive, with lots of fine swirling lines and curls.
In Volume 1 there are 30 different illustrations for you to colour, including oriental designs, graceful Fairies, Paisley whorls, elaborate peacocks, nature and much more.
The paper is average thickness but waterbased pens don't bleed through- not that it matters as each design is one sided. There are lots of tiny spaces in Susan's work, so make sure that's something you love before you buy. I just love the wispy, fragiilty of the lines and the natural flow each picture has, they're very calming to look at even before filling with colour.
Here is my finished picture of some Oriental-looking foliage and flowers, completed with Staedtler Triplus felt pens.
I was given this book in exchange for an honest review. You can find it on Amazon here:
