It's not too often I come across a colouring book that I not only love, but does good for charity at the same time. Colour Africa is one of those; a lovely, natural book which raises money for the Earthchild project- a charity that promotes healthy and holistic living for children, through yoga and enviro education in classrooms across South Africa. It's such a wonderful scheme that helps children learn higher relaxation, meditation and mindfulness. You can read more about the Earthchild Project here.
Colour Africa is centered around traditional African proverbs which teach and preserve the universal truths that connect us all, no matter what language, through beautifully illustrated type and drawings. Each proverb is shown in the native language, with a decorative English translation for you to colour underneath. The facing page shows a visual depiction of that proverb through the colouring page, and each proverb is helpfully explained at the back of the book (some of them are rather obscure so I was thankful for the clarification!) Have a flip through the book and check out all the stunningly expressive art for you to colour. There's even a game in the centrefold for you to play with children whilst you colour together.

The book is a larger than A4 square size, with the cover made out of recycled, non-toxic card. The paper is good quality, with no bleed from water-based pens, and the illustrations themselves are pleasant and simply drawn.

Here's my picture of the proverb, 'The mouth does not give what give are the hands', which basically means that actions are more important than words- something I very much believe in.
This book was given to me in exchange for and honest review. You can find it information on the Colour Africa website, here. Please email proverbs@colourafrica.co.za to order :)
