Do you like Cyberpunk, morbidity, silliness and general indie weirdness? I do! Coloring on the Edge is the first badass and super cool colouring book from Karlon Douglas, a 26 year old Fine Arts graduate based in Missouri, USA. Karlon specialises in digital illustrations, his thematic interests ranging from random and abstract to geeky gamer-inspired drawings. Check out this brilliant book trailer from the BlackRiverArt YouTube channel (Karlon's brand):
This book is, I suppose, like taking a peek into Karlon's brain! It's very 'out there', very imaginative, and above all, totally FUN! It doesn't take itself too seriously but at the same time there's a real quality in the illustrations, as well as a great personality and entertainment factor. Drawings include a Biker Grandma, pin-up models, sexy club singers, grotesque skin-stretching monsters, and even a couple of relatively normal landscape scenes!
There are 24 illustrations in total, printed on paper that is just slightly thicker than normal printer paper. All designs are one-sided, which is great as I'm not sure the muted tones of pencils could do these illustrations justice! A glossy cover finishes off this A4-sized book, covered in overlapping line drawings that give it an artsy, comic book feel.

If you like colouring books that showcase individual, original art with a mixture of themes and subject matter that borders on the macabre- this is the one for you! Karlon has also recently published a Hallowe'en colouring book which I'm majorly excited about and will hopefully be able to review soon! Swing by the BlackRiverArt Etsy page to purchase Karlon's individual colouring sheets & get an instant digital download to start colouring today!

Here's my finished page from the book, coloured with a mixture of alcohol markers.
