Color Me Vintage is a compilation of 49 period-style images which have been collected over the years by illustrator J.M. Cooper.
These eclectic drawings hark back to the Victorian & turn of the century era, a time of opulently designed ornaments and plush furniture adorned with scrolls and dripping with rich colour. I particularly love the old bottle labels and vintage clocks. Wouldn't it be nice if things were still as beautifully made nowadays?! Here's a sneak peek inside:
The aesthetic of this book is so appealing- everything was so much more stylish back then! The book itself is smaller than A4 with single-sided, white paper. It has a lovely soft-feel cover, adding to the splendour of the theme. The paper isn't particularly thick, but there's nothing on the other side so just pop a couple of sheets of paper between and away you go. J.M. has generously offered 4 free downloads on her website, available here, so you can try before you buy.
I don't usually warm to books that have printed images or digitally copied pictures because I love the uniqueness and effort that goes into hand-drawn art, but I'm a big fan of anything vintage so it's actually great to have this very niche collection put together as a colouring book. Here's my finished picture, completed with Spectrum Noir markers.
I was given this book in exchange for an honest review, you can buy it on Amazon here:
