Prismacolor - Tombow Conversion Chart!

Conversion charts are really popular in the adult colouring community as they allow colourists with different sets of pencils to find comparative colours. This is especially helpful for Colour Alongs where the host is using a brand of pencil you might not have. It's not often done across mixed media, for example between pencils and markers. I was thinking how useful it would be to have these conversions though, as you could use markers to colour a smooth base layer and then pencils on top to add depth and richness to the final piece.

This spurred me into creating the first of these pencil-marker charts, using my full set of 150 Prismacolors and 96 Tombow pens. I was able to create 60 comparative shades which doesn't sound like a lot but I was actually surprised to find that many! As with all conversions they are not 100% matches - there will be slight differences in colours depending on how many layers of marker you use, for example. So, this is the closest I could get and I hope it's helpful for you all! As with all my resources this chart is completely free for download, just click the button below and print. The file is a PDF and includes both the blank chart for you to colour yourself, and a full-colour reference chart which I personally coloured and scanned.

I love your various charts, Claire. So enormously helpful. And for those of us with hand issues, being able to combine pencils with a medium which requires less pressure is great. I'm going to try doing that with Neocolor II's soon... you ever do anything with those?

Hi Claire,
Have the Prismacolor vs Polychromos chart, love it. Wonder if you can do a chart adding to above with Caran d'arche Luminance pencils. I'm slowly buying and have about another 10 or 11 pencils to have a full set. It would be nice to have a comparison of all 3 brands together on 1 page.
