Tula Pink is, in her own words, "an illustrator, a fabric designer, a quilter, an author and a maker" so her days are crammed with working on various projects across many different mediums. California-born Tula has further added to her portfolio with her first colouring book, which is made up of patterns she designed for her fabric collections.
These usually vibrant and colourful patterns- which Tula is famous for- have now been converted into line drawings for you to add your own splash of colour to. The themes in the book are assorted in style but all highly detailed, including cameo brooch ladies, symmetrical patterns, lush foliage and blooming flowers. Various animals are also featured, whether it's the fox curled up in his den or the squirrel scampering around in the woods.
As the designs were firstly seen on fabrics, each one has a name and collection name which is printed on the lower reverse of each sheet. The paper is an average quality, white, and perforated for easy removal. The majority of these illustrations are VERY detailed and will need the finest of points and the sharpest of pencils, as the whisper-fine lines are unforgiving. The pages are one-sided so you could use alcohol markers but I would advise strongly against it. Spreading outside the lines is what they are notorious for and the spaces in this book are just far too tiny and narrow to get a perfect result.
I think that whilst the designs are undeniably gorgeous and surely look fantastic as fabrics, some of them might not have been a suitable choice for a colouring book owing to the sheer minutae of some of the areas, and the incredible amount of detail on the page. That said, if you're looking for a challenge and love taking your time, you'll love it. Here's my finished page, which I decided to do with Stylefile alchohol markers to see if I could keep them within the lines. I don't think I've done *too* bad!
