My Wonderful World Part 2 is here! I've been looking forward to this one for a while. For anyone who hasn't read my review of the first book, go here to read it and buy now, it's amazing!
The sequel lives up to expectations too, full of Masja's heavily paisley-oriented signature style, flowers and nature abound. The cover is that same pastel marine colour with beautiful gold embellishments that give the book a touch of luxury, and is formatted to be the same size and binding so they look perfect together on the shelf. The images within are all very organic and flowing, with lots of leaves and flower petals, swirls and patterns. It's a very natural continuing of the debut, feeling like an extention rather than a brand new book. Why not take a walk through her wonderful world below...
Masja's style is naturally detailed but not too intricate, so there's lots of large spaces making the illustrations ideal for someone who likes ornamental images but not the minute areas. As I mentioned earlier, the books are the same size and contain the same amount of pages (46) but this second book is chunkier than the first. This is due to Masja deciding to use even thicker paper this time round, despite her first book having great quality thickness. The pages are bordering on card stock now, which is great for those of us who prefer to use markers or gel pens over pencils (alcohol-based pens will always bleed though).
The linework is generally broader in this book than the last, but still remains on the fine side of the spectrum. Overall it's another wonderful addition to Masja's portfolio and your colouring shelf- and I have a copy to giveaway! But first- have a gander at my finished page, completed with neon gel pens!
Okay, okay, it's giveaway time! I have a copy of Mijn Wonderlijke Wereld Part 2 up for grabs, by entering the giveaway below. It's open WORLDWIDE! Woo!
I was given this book in exchange for an honest review. You can buy yours over on Masja's Etsy page.
