Yasmeen Eldahan- AKA YamPuff- is a teacher by day, artist by night with a huge following on DeviantArt. Her work is extremely cute with definite Manga & Chibi influences. I'm a huge fan of this style and despite not being a 'girly-girl' find these charming candyfloss cartoon designs adorable! Carousel Dreams of course centres around carousel horses and imagery including unicorns, cupcakes, Lolita fashions, chubby ponies, mandala backgrounds and loads more Kawaii goodness! Every single illustration in this book is gorgeous and saccharine sweet, a must for fans of the Japanese aesthetic. The book is CreateSpace printed so nothing special to report on the paper quality, it's very much copy paper quality. However all of the illustrations are one sided, so bleed from alcohol pens is not an issue as long as you place a few sheets of scrap paper behind. There are 24 images in total, with a pretty consistent level of detail. There is nothing in this book that could be considered heavily intricate as most of the designs have wide spaces, perfect for creating blends. Some of the illustrations are contained in a border, some go right into the spine and off the edge, but the majority are centred on the page. The powder blue, pink and purple cover is a thin card that has a matte, soft-touch feel. On the back of each page is a short paragraph from YamPuff describing the previous image and her inspirations for it. Overall this is a fabulous book that will appeal to all ages and those proficient with alcohol markers. The artwork cries out for colour and glitter, both of which I've included in my finished picture of rose princess 'Diamante'. I coloured it with Spectrum Noir markers and a clear Gelly Roll glitter pen. This book was given to me in exchange for an honest review. You can find it on Amazon here:
